About
Alex Menhams
I’ve been working as a facilitator, trainer and speaker for more years than my fresh-faced looks suggest, and I love working with people who are up to something in the world.
Being fully alive no matter what the circumstances is the light that guides me. I find that when you create spaces for people to show up, feel alive and make a difference – they always do.
The pursuit of what feels real and alive has led me into all sorts of adventures (and scrapes!) from performing at the Karlsruhe Improv Festival, to working on a goldmine in the Australian outback, pretending to be my friends’ mum to his headteacher, facilitating a retreat in the snow in Stockholm and starting an improv community in my home town.
I’m a renaissance soul who’s fascinated by the human condition and I’ve dived deep into the art and science of storytelling, group dynamics, body language, theatrical performance, improv comedy, awareness-based social change, complexity, systems thinking, biomimicry, creative facilitation, learning, creativity and play…as well as mindfulness, meditation and qigong and I weave all these threads into my day-to-day work.
I am a strategic thinker, with the calm and credibility that come from working on high-profile projects for clients in the UK, Europe and North America including: Astra Zeneca, Shell, Channel 4, Adnams, University of Suffolk, and Theatre Royal Norwich. My client relationships tend to be strong and long lasting, and I’m at my best working alongside creative leaders who want to make work more fun (and alive!) and guide real, lasting change.
I run an improv community in my home town of Woodbridge, Suffolk called Here & Now People. We have a weekly drop-in class and perform at a local pub, and I also belong to a theatrical improv ensemble that plays at festivals in the UK and Europe. In the next couple of years I want do so much more with improv and performance.
I am also co-founder of Cupboard Love, a shop for natural products without all the plastic, with my incredible (and long suffering) wife Mel.
I’d love to connect with you and if you’d like to chat about a potential project, drop me a line.
