Meetings for humans

The way we gather shapes the kind of world we create.

And yet, so much of our time with others is spent on autopilot.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. When we make space for our humanity we can create meaningful shared experiences and get surprising results.

By trade I’m a workshop facilitator and strategy adviser specialising in co-creation. I’ve delivered 100’s of sessions for clients including AstraZeneca, Adnams, Britten Pears Arts, Shell and Imperial College London.

If you’re looking for a more human way of meeting drop me a line.

"A rare mix of insight, creativity and humour."

“Alex was a delight to work with and provided a rare mix of insight, creativity and humour.

“The result was a stronger sense of team identity, purpose and values and the sessions were challenging and fun in equal measure which helped us shift up a gear.”

Head of Innovation, New Anglia

My approach

I use a variety of activities to bring more aliveness and creativity to group work.

I find that when you make space for people to turn up as humans – messy, outspoken, daft, worried, kind, creative, smart – they do! And the insights, ideas and conversations that flow are incredibly valuable and support lasting change.

With 25 years in creative and strategic roles, I’ve experimented with lots of ways of inspiring collaborative learning, thinking and action, and discovering a renewed sense of purpose and possibility.

I design sessions to build intelligent, co-creative networks where people are given as much agency and accountability as possible for their contribution.

That means minimising presentations and panel discussions in favour of free expression and free movement. These may seem messy at first, but they are scalable and highly effective. I wrote an academic paper about facilitating co-creation using a network model of meeting that you can see here.

You can see some of the activities, processes and games I use on my resources page.
