Team building
I help teams make collaboration feel alive again.
Teamwork should be enjoyable and rewarding but it’s easy to lose that edge. So it pays to make time to come together to laugh, connect, play, explore, celebrate and build trust.
By trade I’m a trainer and facilitator, and I create memorable experiences that help people work better together using the power of improv.
I’ve worked with teams at AstraZeneca, Shell, Adnams, Mind, Barclays, and Imperial College London and many more.
If you’d like to level up your teamwork just drop me a line.
Learning by doing
Let’s skip the death-by-powerpoint, push back the tables and get straight into the things that matter.
My approach to team building is light and enjoyable and I love making spaces where people can laugh and learn.
Why? Because it creates movement, insight and lasting change.
Here’s a taste of what we’ll do together:
Play with simple games that build trust and commitment.
Make deeper connections in a fun, supportive space.
Work on the core skills of creative collaboration
"A rare mix of insight, creativity and humour."
“Alex was a delight to work with and provided a rare mix of insight, creativity and humour.”
“The result was a stronger sense of team identity, purpose and values and the sessions were challenging and fun in equal measure which helped us shift up a gear.”
Julian Munson
Head of Enterprise Zones & Innovation, New Anglia
The Power of Improv
Improv is one of the most powerful tools I’ve worked with.
It has brought something alive in my work that nothing else quite touches. Why? Because it helps people feel what we’re talking about.
It builds connection, invites play, and opens the door to learning that’s experiential, real and often surprising.
And when people are playing — paying close attention to each other, taking risks, and letting go of needing to be “right” — something shifts. They start listening differently. Showing up differently. The learning lands in a deeper way.
It’s not about being funny. It’s not about performance. It’s about presence, trust, and co-creating in real time.
And that’s where change begins.
Delivery options
1
60 minutes
In an hour I can run a lunch & learn session to engage and inspire, or bring people together after work session to play and unwind. Either way it will feel light and playful, and your group will connect and collaborate in a laughter-filled session.
2
90 minutes
This session lets everyone connect and have fun in ways that build trust and confidence for The Art of Teamwork. We’ll explore the power of collaborative thinking and take time to reflect on how the activities apply to everyday life. This is an ideal session as part of an away day, conference or annual gathering.
3
Half day
With more time we can go deeper into skills for co-creation and explore a theme like presence and impact, thinking styles or healthy team culture. We’ll unpack the learning and apply it to everyday life and work. This length of session is ideal for a team that wants to build trust for better results at an away day, or as part of a wider learning or CPD programme.
4
Full day
A full day lets us dive deeper into leadership, communication and collaboration skills. We’ll have a great time together, and there will be plenty of time to go deeper on the areas that matter most to you, and to apply the learning for better results. A full day of learning is suitable for away days, retreats, ongoing development programmes and change initiatives.
"Improvisation is one of the two or three cardinal skills for people to learn in future."
What people say...
Learning by doing. No boring waffle.
Discover the potential in yourself and others.
Anti-conventional
training
These sessions don’t look or sound like regular training.
We’ll push back the chairs and tables so you can learn in a happy and productive state of flow.
And we’ll spark up an open and honest conversation that helps everyone to learn and grow.
What can we do together?
I tailor training to your team or group so it hits the mark. Here are some areas of teamwork and leadership we could explore together.
Creative collaboration
Tools and practice for generating and building on ideas, and putting imagination to work.
Psychological safety
How to create the conditions for openness and trust in cohesive and high-performing teams.
Listening as an ally
Extending the range and impact of your performance by listening to learn and engage diverse views.
Status & power
Using applied theatre techniques we’ll work on adaptive body language to flex and equalise status & power.
Navigating uncertainty
Being brave enough to say “I don’t know.” and experimenting, adapting and co-creating from there.
Creative facilitation
A two day intensive on creative facilitation as practice, performance and process.
